Terms of use
Last changed November 3, 2026
These are the terms for using Genesis, the service at this address. By making an account you agree to them. They're written to be read; if anything is unclear, ask.
What Genesis is
Genesis lets you describe trading systems, test them on past market prices, and run them on live prices on paper (pretend money) or, if you choose, on a broker account you connect yourself. Genesis is a tool. It doesn't give financial, investment, tax or legal advice, and nothing it shows is a recommendation to buy or sell anything.
Results are not promises
A test shows what a system would have done in the past under the assumptions it states. The past doesn't promise the future: real trading can lose money, including more than a test suggests, because of prices, costs, delays, a broker's own rules, or a system that simply stops working. Paper results are pretend money.
Real money is yours to decide
Nothing reaches a real-money account unless you connect it and switch real money on yourself. If you do, you are responsible for every order it places, and for checking with your broker what happened. Genesis tries hard to place exactly what you meant, but software, networks and brokers fail; we can't be responsible for trading losses.
Your account
Keep your password to yourself; you're responsible for what's done with your account. One person per account. You must be old enough to agree to these terms where you live, and at least 18 to connect a broker account.
What's yours
The systems you make are yours. You let us store and run them to provide the service. If you publish something (a part, a record), others here can see and use it as the publishing page says.
Fair use
Don't use Genesis to break the law or a broker's rules, to attack or overload it, to reach other people's accounts, or to pass off another person's work as yours. Compute has limits that keep the service working for everyone; we may slow or stop use that goes far beyond them.
Early access
Genesis is free during early access. Features may change or go away, and the service may be unavailable at times. If we ever start charging, we'll say so first and nothing you have will be charged without your agreement.
Leaving
You can download everything of yours and delete your account at any time from your world. We may close an account that breaks these terms, telling you why.
Limits
Genesis is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect losses, lost profits or trading losses, and our total liability is limited to what you paid us in the last twelve months (during early access, nothing).
Changes
If these terms change in a way that matters, we'll tell you in the service before the change applies.
